Walk for Life (WFL) - a program of The Glencoe Foundation started in Bangladesh since 2009 and makes significant changes for clubfoot scenario with Government as public private partnership. The achievement of this joint venture is very successful and treated more than 21265 children with 231871 feet have enrolled around the country.  WFL signed an MOU with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, government of Bangladesh and have designated as “The National Clubfoot Program for Bangladesh”. It continues to be in the Government Operational Health Plan since 2011.

With this partnership WFL established clinic network with 33 clinics in 31 districts and a team work model lead by an Orthopedic surgeon who is the technical advisor and supervising orthopedic surgeon of each ponseti clinic and 1 or 2 physiotherapist and an counselor work under the supervision of team leader.

An estimated 3900-4000 child is born with a clubfoot deformity in Bangladesh at rate of 1.2 per 1,000 live births. 

In addition to provide free treatment for clubfoot children, Training,  Awareness building activities around community levels and Research is the key prime work by WFL and Government partnership. WFL arranged more than 100 Training program about Ponseti method for Doctors, Physiotherapist and nurses in different medical college and District hospital. To build awareness among community levels WFL worked with different government institution like Community clinics, different and UHFPOs.

Our Vision:

  • All children born with clubfoot in Bangladesh have the ability to walk without disability.
  • All children born with clubfoot in Bangladesh get the opportunity to receive the best quality treatment, so that no one suffers from this preventable disability.

Our Mission:

  • To coordinate necessary facilities and information to ensure all children born with clubfoot have access to Walk for Life and associated clinics for high quality treatment before their third birthday.
  • To integrate Ponseti method, in a Government / private partnership.
  • To make economical quality braces available to all Ponseti practitioners.
